How it works

Using the Name Tag Generator

Quick start

  1. Add names: upload a CSV or type them in (Step 1).
  2. Design the badge: logo, name text, size and background (Step 2).
  3. Check the preview on the right.
  4. Agree to the disclaimer, then click Print Badges or Download PDF (Step 3).

1Add names

  • Upload CSV: drag a file onto the upload box or click it. The file needs a header row with Firstname and Lastname columns (First Name, Surname and similar also work). Uploading replaces the current list.
  • Type names in: fill in Firstname and Lastname under the list and press Add or Enter.
  • Edit: click any name in the list to change it. The badges update as you type.
  • Remove: click × next to a name, or Clear all names to start over.
  • Try sample names fills the list with examples so you can try things out.

2Design the badge

  • Logo: PNG, JPG, GIF or WebP; a transparent PNG looks best. Drag the logo on any badge to move it, or drag the small square at its corner to resize. The switch hides it without removing it.
  • Name text: pick a font, style and colour for first and last names. Other Google Font… lets you type any font from fonts.google.com. Long names shrink to fit.
  • Size & layout: choose a badge size preset or type any size in mm; the box shows how many fit per A4 page. Sliders set the logo and name positions and sizes. Gap between at 0 mm means neighbouring badges share one cut line.
  • Background: pick a colour, or add a background image and choose Fill, Fit or Stretch. Lower the image opacity if the names are hard to read.
  • Reset design to defaults undoes design changes but keeps your names, logo and background image.

3Print & download

  • Agree to the disclaimer first: tick the checkbox in Step 3. Printing and downloading only work once it is ticked.
  • Pages are A4. The app fits as many badges per page as it can and turns the page to portrait when that fits more.
  • Print Badges: in the print dialog keep Scale: 100% and Margins: None. Chrome and Edge pick the orientation automatically; in Firefox or Safari choose it to match the preview.
  • Download PDF: saves name-tags.pdf. It needs an internet connection the first time.
  • The Zoom menu only changes the preview, not the printout.

Nothing is saved. Your names, images and design live only in this browser tab. Refreshing or closing the page starts over, so print or download your PDF before you leave. The browser asks before you close the page with names loaded.

  • Provided as is: this tool is offered free and without any warranty. Results can vary with your browser, printer and paper, so no responsibility is taken for misprints, wasted materials or printing costs. Always print a test sheet and check the badge size before a full run.
  • Your data: nothing is stored. Names, images and design stay in your browser tab and are gone when you close or refresh it. A CSV you upload is sent to the server only to read the names, and is discarded straight away. Logos and background images never leave your browser. Please don't enter sensitive personal information.
  • Images and trademarks: only upload logos and images you own or have permission to use. You are responsible for the content you put on your badges.
  • Third-party services: fonts load from Google Fonts, and the PDF tools load from the jsDelivr and cdnjs networks. Your browser connects to these services directly when you use the app.
